(Basis: QSR Drive-Thru Study 2024 & Sprint-Thru Technology)

The annual QSR Drive-Thru Study released for the last 20 years is well recognized in the industry. The QSR Drive-Thru Study 2024 conducted by QSR Magazine in partnership with Intouch Insight using mystery shoppers and sample locations primarily focused on the following touch points which are used in comparing drive-thru and sprint-thru for this time study:
  • Speed of Service which is also referred to as Total Time that is further divided into the following touch points:
    • Wait Times which is 'Amount of time from when the shopper enters the drive-thru lane to when they start to place their order'.
    • Service Times which is 'Amount of time it took the shopper to order and receive their food'.
  • Order Accuracy
  • Suggestive Selling
  • Food Quality

Sprint-Thru - Order Accuracy:
Order accuracy will always be very close to 100% because of following reasons:
  • Ready to pick up, ready to sign-in and self-serv customers place orders without employees being in the middle.
  • Employee assisted customers can by pass speaker and use mobile phone for communication. The quality of communication with mobile phone communication will be far superior than speaker communication system.
Out door noice will not interfere with the mobile communication, because mobile communication will be conducted in a closed enrirontment such as inside a vehicle.
Mobile phone communication can also be interfaced with AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Sprint-Thru - Suggestive Selling:
Suggestive Selling will be more effective, if it is based on shopper profile:
  • When shoppers place advance orders or at the location using self-serv ordering stations, the ordering systems can offer better suggestive selling based on shopper profile rather than based on the content of the current order.

Food Quality

Suggestive Selling Impact on Lost Revenue: Potential Loss Per Year Per Store: $35,780.09

Food_Quality_Impact

Sprint-Thru - Food Quality:
Food Quality will be the best, if the food is prepared just before it is picked up:
  • When shoppers place advance orders, the shoppers cannot provide the exact time of order pick up. In order to receive food with better quality, the shoppers can opt for freshly prepared food.

This would prevent the merchants perparing the food when they want rather than preparing food when the shoppers want.
